the Columbus Wildcats at Columbus on October 6 in a match up of North
Division Southeast Iowa Super Conference rivals. Mepo cruised to a three
game sweep by scores of 25-11, 25-8 and 25-17. Monica Holsteen, who is coming back from a knee injury, led the Bullettes in kills with seven. Bethany Weber added six while Kami Keller contributed four. Marissa Dideriksen with three and Katie Hollingsworth with two completed the Mepo attacks. Molly Petersen set for all 22 of the Mepo kills. Dideriksen notched three service aces for the Bullettes and Hollingsworth two. The Bullettes served 64 of 66 (97%) in the match. Defensively, Weber recorded three and a half blocks and Keller two and a half. Petersen added one and a half. The Bullettes registered eight and a half blocks in the match. Mindy Fye led in digs with six. Petersen added four and Dideriksen three. The win pushed the Bullettes division record to 5-1 in matches and 16-3 in games and set up a showdown at Iowa Mennonite for a share of the divisional crown. IMS entered the October 11 match with a perfect 6-0 match record. A win by the Bullettes at IMS would result in a three-way tie for the divisional crown with IMS and Wapello. Mediapolis sports a 29-5 season match record and are 66-14 in games. At Columbus, the Bullettes also swept the junior varsity and fresh-soph matches. The junior varsity cruised to 21-12 and 21-7 wins, while the fresh-soph picked up two wins by identical 23-21 scores. For the junior varsity, Kaci McLaughlin notched nine kills and three aces to pace the easy win. Carmen Ertz had eight assists. The win pushed the JV season record to 6-1. In the fresh-soph match, where everyone saw action, Ertz notched 23 more assists. Carmen Parnell was the top hitter with five kills and Nina Earnest added four. Kasey Abel had four service aces and three assists for the fresh-soph. With the victory, the fresh-soph improved to 18-2 in match play. Mepo (25, 25, 25) |
